Privacy

Last updated 18 October 2026

GeoIntel is an analytical atlas you read in your browser. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no forms and no advertising, and it does not sell or share information about its visitors.

What stays on your device

Your reading preferences (appearance, layers, the last view, whether you have seen the introduction) and a saved copy of the news feed, so the atlas still works when you're offline, are kept in your browser's own storage. They are never sent to us, and you can clear them at any time in your browser's settings.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics in cookieless mode: it sets no cookies and stores no identifier on your device, and advertising and personalisation signals are switched off. Google receives the page viewed, your browser and device type, and a coarse location it derives from your IP address, which we see only as aggregate counts. Google's handling is described in its privacy policy. Cloudflare's own Web Analytics also counts page views and load times without cookies or any identifier (how it works). You can block either with any content blocker without affecting the atlas.

Hosting and the live feed

The atlas is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver pages and to protect the site from abuse (Cloudflare's privacy policy). The Current Events feed is delivered through Cloudflare too, so your IP address does not reach the system that compiles it.

Content from other services

People in the news

Current Events summarises and links public reporting by news organisations and official sources. It does not collect information about private individuals.
